ASC Nationals moving to Olney, TX August 31 thru Sept 2nd, 2007
Sign up now for the PPC or Gyro Repairman Inspector Courses before and after Nationals. Repairman Courses
All About Nationals…from THE GYRO SIDE OF THE HOUSEby R.G. Stark Rotor Wing Director Plans for the fall nationals here in Olney are well
under way. I will present a program
to the Lion’s club on the 30th, and I am hoping to get them to
provide the food service. They use
to do the rodeo but for some reason no longer do that.
The restaurant that I had initially talked with went out of business. Just completed are electrical plug-in’s on the
south side of the main hangar. Campers
who wish to plug in will need to bring extension chords as all the plugs are in
one place. Work is underway to have the classroom in order for
the pilot safety meetings as well as the repairman classes.
An aviation friend has taken over the Golden Chick in Olney; perhaps they
can provide meals for the classes. Porta-Potties have been arranged for the event.
I have a very good price for them to be there the entire time.
I will touch base with them later in the year for details. News releases, sponsor forms and booth flyers are
being mailed out over the entire The drafting department at Air Tractor Inc is working
on a map of the airport upon which camping areas, parking areas, and display
booth areas will be shown. We will have a stop in the entrance road where we
will pass out a brochure and map to attendees.
This brochure will also list the sponsors and all of the booth holders
that we will know of. I suspect that
some pop-ups will show up. Saturday evening, there will be musical entertainment
presented for every one’s enjoyment. There will be no charge to attend.
Your donation to cover their expenses will be appreciated. There will be no gate fee or charge to attend this
event. We will be accepting
donations to help cover the cost of the event.
So far, I have been sending out flyers and advertising at my expense.
I have a very good copier and some free help with this. Special Note to
the wise, if
you want motel rooms, you better get them reserved NOW.
The weekend of the fly-in is also the first weekend of hunting season
here. The motels will fill up fast. Martha’s Little kitchen, my Mexican lady friend,
will have a taco stand (booth) during the fly-in.
I will limit the food venders so that the ones that are here will have a
chance to do well. During the fly-in, I need your help.
Those of you who have been to the fly-ins and to the competition are
needed to help run the contest and organize the flying activities.
I have a very basic outline for the days, Early AM, powered parachutes,
Mid AM weight shift, After lunch, gyrocopters and we will have the glider out.
I sure hope someone brings a balloon or two.
The glider is a certificated aircraft and I hold Commercial glider, we
will be using ground tow so the rides will be short, but we will be able to give
rides for a small fee. If anyone knows of anyone who wants a booth, I do not
care what you sell as long as it is aviation and legal, have them get in touch
with me. Many of the booths will be
outside, I hope some will be with LSA aircraft on display.
Now is the time to get on the list. We will have LSA aircraft certifications during the
event. This has to be by reservation
in advance as I have to co-ordinate each with the FAA.
If you want to get certificated, contact
me, I will get you on my list and will guide you on your registration.
Registration MUST be complete when you get here. You have 7 months left to get your aircraft certificated as ELSA. Robert G. Stark, Rotor Wing director, 940 564 2938, FAX 940 564 3209, rgstark@brazosnet.com.
