Jim,
ASC Charges FAA
July 5th, 2011. Lake City, FL
Today, Aero Sports Connection, Inc. the national organization that supports ultralight and light-sport aviation, filed formal charges against the Federal Aviation Administration with the Department of Justice.
ASC has been an exemption holding non-profit organization for over 16 years and supported over 20,000 pilots and instructors to promote safety. That makes ASC the largest exemption holder ever. The Practical Test Standards developed by ASC have also been used by the EAA bringing its total exposure to over 25,000 copies printed and many more electronically transfered.
The FAA has attempted to unilaterally change the definition of powered paragliders and hang gliders in violation of its own standard practices and in violation of federal law. Clear presentations of the violations and their impact have been provided to the DOJ and other government agencies that may be able to help correct the transgression. ASC is seeking correction of this definition to avoid further impacts to the community.
Meanwhile, ASC is also filing for protection under Federal "whistle blower" law in order to prevent further retaliation on the part of the FAA.
